November is a time of year we celebrate Thanksgiving. We reflect on what we are grateful for. Many are thankful and grateful for their family, friends, home, work, etc. This year has been quite challenging, both locally and globally. Some people have faced job loss, loss of loved ones due to COVID-19, adjustments in their home life, home-schooling, etc. Folk are surviving a pandemic and an election year that will change the course of America’s future, just to name a few 2020 unsettling issues. At times, many have been sure what was happening in the moment or going to happen the next day. It has been difficult at times to stay positive and find joy and happiness. Here are some suggestions on helping “choose joy” in your daily lives:
- Get enough sleep – practice sleep hygiene.
- Start with quiet time – pray, meditate.
- Think of little ways to make every day special.
- Listen to music.
- Even if you don’t have time to clean the whole house, just tidy up.
- Exercise -Keep moving.
- Count your blessings.
- Keep a gratitude journal
- Keep your circumstances in perspective.
